Thank You Cards

I have nightmarish fond memories of my mother making me write Thank You notes a few days after Christmas or my birthday. I was not allowed to go out and play before finishing them. I hated it as a child, but I'm glad she made me do it. Like handwritten letters, Thank You notes seem to be a lost art, replaced by emails and text messages. There is something so much more meaningful and personal in giving or receiving a Thank You card.

I recently needed to send out Thank You cards to some German family members. I came up with these lovelies, which are now waiting to be mailed. The cards were plain, pre-cut, pre-scored, off-white cardstock. I dry brushed them with walnut ink, which gave them a soft distressed look. I used lightweight, white cardstock for the background paper. I dyed it in blues and greens using a watercolor technique, then distressed it with brown ink. The Danke overlay was cut from the same lightweight, white cardstock. I stamped the text, then distressed the cardstock using walnut ink.

When was the last time you sent a Thank You note to someone?
