We arrived in Philadelphia on the day the Phillies won the baseball play-offs. Neither of us follow baseball and had no idea until we were woken up by crowds of cheering fans. After traveling 12+ hours on very little sleep, we were in no condition to party and promptly crawled back to bed. The scene outside our hotel looked something like this. Congrats Philly!

While the hubs stayed in Philadelphia to attend a conference, I flew out to Kentucky to visit my cousin and her family. I had only been there briefly once before and was a bit apprehensive as Kentucky doesn't exactly have the best reputation, unless you like rednecks and hillbillies. I am happy to say I escaped unscathed and found the stereotypes grossly exaggerated (at least in regards to Lexington). My cousin and I grew up together and are more like sisters, so it was wonderful to spend some time with her. We visited the Woodford Reserve distillery and tasted some yummy bourbon, took her kids to the pumpkin patch for some Halloween fun, and had the best time just hanging out and doing nothing.
The hubs and I met back up in Maryland, where the next week will be filled with family, friends, shopping, and more good times.

Oh, great photos! I've never been to Kentucky myself. I'm glad it was good! My husband always hums the "Dueling Banjos" opening chords when we experience some redneckedness here in CO...which is not seldom... ;)
KY has lovely land, horses, and yes distilleries!
You were about 50 miles south of me, but is more urban than rural here in Northern KY.
I hope the rest of your trip is fun, if you make your way back to Phili, I really love stopping at the Reading Market Terminals.
Glad you're having a wonderful time. Going home is always a whirlwind experience in my book!
I actually moved to Lexington this year and don't mind it a bit except for the cold weather. I took the Woodford tour as well and loved it. The wineries here are also gorgeous!
